Pompano Beach student wins first Florida Student Astronaut Challenge with zero gravity experiment

Florida State University Lab school students are living the experience of flying in space within the "Enterprise" Space Shuttle Flight Simulator. This simulator was constructed as a mobile instructional tool to demonstrate real-world application of science. Peter Carafano, the Project Coordinator at FSUS, developed the simulator operating system as an instructional tool to engage students and foster an interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering , and mathematics. Presently the simulator is part of the 2012 Student Astronaut Challenge competition to be held in Tallahassee on May 19. This competition is hosted by the Florida Department of Education and sponsored by Disney World, Inc.
