A local Broward resident has been killed while fighting in the Marines during Operation Enduring Freedom. Lance Cpl. Patrick Xavier Jr., 24, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., died May 18 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Governor Charlie Crist recently highlighted programs available to veterans and their families.
