Sunrise holiday events, Floyd concert and H1N1 vaccine
H1N1 Vaccines Available at Sunrise Civic Center
The City of Sunrise – in partnership with the Florida Department of Health and the Broward County Health Department – will provide free H1N1 vaccines to the public throughout the month of December. Appointments are not required.
Walk-in clinics will take place in the Civic Center (10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard) from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the following dates:
Wednesdays – December 9, 16 and 23.
Sundays – December 13, 20 and 27.
H1N1 vaccination priority groups include:
# Pregnant women;
# Health care and emergency medical personnel;
# People who live with or care for infants younger than six months of age;
# Anyone six months to 24 years of age;
# Anyone 25 to 64 years of age who has a medical condition that puts them at higher risk for flu-related complications.

“Rock ‘N Remember” Concerts Continue
On Friday, December 11, tribute band The Floyd Experience will perform the entire concept album, “The Dark Side of the Moon.” Thisheady concert will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the Sunrise Civic Center Theatre, located at 10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard. Holiday Fun Around The World: Holiday Events at the Sunrise Civic Center
This Saturday, December 12, the Sunrise Civic Center (10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard) will host two special holiday events:
“Holiday Fun Around the World” is a joyous musical tour featuring the songs and stories of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and many other traditions. This all-ages show begins at 2:00 p.m. in the Sunrise Civic Center Theatre. Tickets are just $12 per adult and $10 per child. Call (to reserve your seats.
For a hands-on holiday treat, participate in our Sundaes with Santa / Candy Cane Hunt event in the Civic Center Rotunda. From 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., children age 3 to 14 can enjoy ice cream, arts and crafts and face painting – and hunt for candy canes. Pictures with Santa will be available for purchase. New Gallery Exhibit to Open on Friday, December 18
On Friday, December 18, at 6:30 p.m., the Sunrise Civic Center Art Gallery (10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard) will host a free opening night reception for “Faces and Scenes of the Soul,” featuring the work of Ana Maria Hoyos. Meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments.
