First Broward general public H1N1 vaccine clinic opens Nov. 30

Officials at the Broward County Health Department announced Broward County’s first H1N1 Vaccination Clinic which shall be vaccine-capacity-india11_26open to all members of the public starting Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, located at 2855 Coral Springs Drive in Coral Springs, 33065.   Free H1N1 vaccinations will be offered on this date from 8:00AM to 12:00PM for Walk-ins and 12:00PM to 8:00PM – By Appointment.   For appointments call: (954) 346-1348.  Additional dates at Coral Springs Center for the Arts will include the following:

“The Broward County Health Department is proud to partner with the cities of Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Oakland Park, Pembroke Pines and Sunrise to expand our H1N1 vaccination campaign,” said Dr. Paula Thaqi, Director of the Broward County Health Department.  “Since the beginning of the H1N1 Vaccination Campaign, and allocations to the Broward County Health Department, we have distributed the vaccine to hospitals, physicians who serve priority patients (Pediatricians, OB-GYN, and family practitioners), and first responders.  Individuals may check with their health care providers to determine the availability of vaccine or visit the above locations to be vaccinated,” she said.  “We encourage everyone to get vaccinated against H1N1 influenza,” Said Dr. Thaqi

The Broward County Health Department’s H1N1 High Risk Vaccination Clinic located at the Fort Lauderdale National Guard Armory – 400 SW 24th Street, Fort Lauderdale 33315, remains open to those in the priority groups who wish to be vaccinated.  The H1N1 High Risk Vaccination Clinic is open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00AM to 8:00PM.

People in the high priority groups include:

  • Pregnant women
  • Health care and emergency medical personnel
  • People who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months of age
  • Anyone 6 months to 24 years of age, and
  • Anyone 25 to 64 years of age who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza related complications
