TALLAHASSEE, FL. – Legislators from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties came together yesterday to form the Florida Legislative Haiti Relief Task Force. The group, appointed by the respective county Delegation Chairs, will provide guidance and oversight to the State of Florida’s jurisdictional response to the earthquake which devastated the neighboring island nation in January.

Haitians flowing into South Florida after earthquake
Updated Jan. 28 – Broward Public Schools has enrolled 283 Haitian refugee students in local schools. After the earthquake in Haiti, Broward County, along with Miami-Dade have been a hub for receiving quake victims, with many staying in the area after arriving at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

BSO donates two truck loads supplies to Food for the Poor
