Sigmund Floyd, John Terry (former FtL Button DJ) headline autism fundraiser

Ready for a little nostalgia? Not only will you get a chance to listen to South Florida’s Premiere Pink Floyd Tribute, “Sigmund Floyd,” but John Terry, Fort Lauderdale’s original DJ from the Button on the Beach will be emcee and DJ between band sets during this Sunday’s fundraiser for the Autism Society of Broward on Dec. 6.

“They do so much for autistic families in Broward County,” said Jimmy Pagano, event promoter. “All the money stays local and it helps with things like medical care, education, support, counseling and more.”

The ASB fundraiser featuring two South Florida enigmas is the Sunset Blue Block Party, 6-10 p.m. on 33rd St. on A-1-A just north of Oakland Park Blvd.

The headline band for this week brings five veteran musicians that hail from around the country that have made and performed music all over the world,  always with an appreciation for Pink Floyd.

Many of the members of the band have been regularly involved in the South Florida music scene and all are multi-talented on various instruments. The band performs material from Pink Floyd’s catalogue ranging from such early albums as Piper at Dawnalso’s Early Gate, Obscured By Clouds, Meddle, Animals, Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of The Moon and The Wall.

This week’s street festival will help raise money for the Autism Society of Broward.

“We are very fortunate to have all these tremendous people taking an interest in our cause,” said Hugh Keogh, with the ASB.

The block will be shut down, with food, drinks, goodies from local businesses (holiday shopping for a cause) as well as silent auctions, raffles and other activities. And rarely seen at events in South Florida is FREE PARKING!
