Huey Lewis and The News Brings Back the Heart of Rock and Roll to Hard Rock Live

“The Heart of Rock and Roll” is still beating…with the return of Huey Lewis and The News to Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on December 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, November 5 at noon.

Hot on the heels of the success of the Back to the Future 25th Anniversary Trilogy release of the classic film series, Grammy winners Huey Lewis and The News will be releasing Soulsville this month, their first album in nine years.  Recorded at the historic Ardent Studios in Memphis, the album features 14 classic songs from the vault of Stax Records, including “Respect Yourself” and “Got to Get You Off My Mind.” Considered to be the preeminent soul music label in America, Stax was home to artists like Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Booker T & The MGs and Isaac Hayes, and produced an astounding number of hit records throughout the 1960s and 70s.

Formed from two rival Bay Area bands in 1979, Huey Lewis and The News’ contagious brand of straight-ahead rock and roll has outlasted countless trends, selling over 30 million albums worldwide in the process. The quintessential band has written and performed such classic Top Ten Hits as “Heart of Rock & Roll,” “Stuck with You,” “I Want A New Drug,” “If This Is It,” “Hip To Be Square” and “Workin’ For A Livin’.”  The group also wrote and performed “The Power of Love” and “Back in Time” for the hit film Back to the Future.  “The Power of Love,” which was nominated for an Academy Award, went all the way to #1 on Billboard’s singles chart.

Lewis has also enjoyed recent success on screen and stage as well, acting on the hit television show Hot in Cleveland, and performing in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Chicago.

Huey Lewis and The News is presently comprised of Huey Lewis (lead vocals and harmonica), Johnny Colla (saxophone, guitar and vocals), Bill Gibson (drums, percussion and vocals), Sean Hopper (keyboards and vocals), Stef Burns (guitars and vocals) and John Pierce (bass).  Their live show features a horn section of San Francisco Bay Area luminaries Marvin McFadden (trumpet), Rob Sudduth (baritone saxophone) and Johnnie Bamont (baritone, tenor sax).

Tickets cost $84, $69 and $54*; All seats are reserved and available at the Hard Rock Live Box Office, open Tuesday – Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. and on Sunday & Monday – only open on event days at noon. Tickets also are available at all Ticketmaster outlets online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone: 1-800-745-3000. Doors open one-hour prior to show start time. *Additional fees may apply.
