BSO seeking Oakland Park repeat burglar

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are releasing surveillance video in the hopes of identifying a repeat convenience store burglar.

The first pre-dawn caper occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on May 8. The unidentified male suspect was captured on surveillance video using bolt cutters to remove a padlock, then slithered his way through a small 11 x 14 inch opening in the security cage to gain entry to the Food Stop at 3298 NW 9 Avenue in Oakland Park.

Once inside the bold bandit helped himself to packs of cigarettes, scratch-off lottery tickets, and an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. He then left the same way he came. A short time later, the now bare-chested burglar wearing a white, NY Yankees cap is seen on video redeeming the stolen lottery tickets at the Blue Food store at 2901 NW 19 Street in Fort Lauderdale.

The same sequence of events took place just before 1 a.m. on Thursday, May 27. Only this time, the thief used the bolt cutters to cut through several metal burglar bars.

The suspect is believed to be between 18 and 25-years-old. He also sports an unknown tattoo on his left lower, inner forearm.

Anyone with information on the identity and/or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call BSO Oakland Park Det. Mohammad Razi at (954) 202-3117 or call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (954) 493-TIPS or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
