A month of comedy at Seminole Coconut Creek Casino
G. David Howard – “the funniest man alive” according to the Guinness Book of World Records – will bring his comedy to the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek on Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. Comedian Scott White will be the featured performer. General admission $10 tickets are available at the casino’s cashier’s cage or at the pavilion door when it opens at 7 p.m. Ticket purchase includes $10 in casino free play. The show is the first in a month-long series each Thursday evening during January by Groucho Productions, Inc. at the casino.
G Howard David actually earned the “funniest man” title twice, in 1977 and 1979, by doing stand-up comedy for 16 straight hours without repeating a single joke, or taking a break, in Clearwater, Fla. Gifted, outrageous, spontaneous and blessed with wonderful comedy instincts and timing, he also lights up audiences with his personality. He’s known for the unique ability to memorize dozens of audience members’ names and then recall them an hour later. His humor is topical, political and observational. When the audience thinks it has seen everything a comedian can do, David picks up his guitar and continues to get belly laughs with his songs.
“Dirty white boy” Scott White’s high energy level and tell-it-like-it is, slightly twisted humor have made him a club favorite. One comedy club owner called him “a combination of Jim Carrey and Tom Green, and is much better looking than both.”
On Jan. 14 John Rathbone, who has appeared on Comedy Central, Showtime and HBO, will be the headliner. For
the past 26 years, Rathbone has performed nearly 6,000 comedy shows with more than a million people seeing him from New York City to Hollywood, Calif., from Alaska to the Caribbean. Featured with him at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek will be Trace Kanaan, the “Princess of Parodies”: The self-proclaimed love child of Liza Minelli and Klinger, she’s really the daughter of an Italian mother who loved the arts, theater and opera. Her Lebanese father reveled in telling dirty jokes, watching stock car races, and going to flea markets. So the comedian took her culturally divided upbringing and created a hysterical “musical yard sale,” she says.
Miami born Cuban comedian Al Romero headlines on Jan. 21, having appeared on Showtime, A&E’s “Evening at the Improv” and “Comedy on the Road,” “Latin Kings of Comedy Vol. 2,” and “Night of a 1000 Guidos.” Romeo will feature the outrageously funny Ken Miller, winner of the 2009 Comedy Central South Beach Comedy Festival.
On Jan. 28, Ron Feingold will deliver his “Comedy A Cappella” — a blend of traditional stand-up comedy and A Cappella music with Ron singing all of his own back-ups, lead vocals and even vocal percussion. And Orlando comedian and musician, Myke Herlihy, will give his hilarious takes on living single, wrapping up a great month of funny men and women performing at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.
