South Plantation students to get congressional recognition for environmental science program

On Monday, Oct 5, CPressPhoto_CongressmanRonKleinongressman Ron Klein (FL-22) will present South Plantation High’s  nationally recognized energy program with a Congressional Recognition Award. He will honor students for their energy efficient efforts and proactive approach toward the environment.

Congressman Klein also will tour South Plantation High’s Environmental Science Magnet program and meet with students about their environmental efforts.

Students will show Congressman Klein innovative projects, such as a solar-powered car. They will also discuss their roles as Everglades Restoration Ambassadors and Solar Knights. South Plantation students known as the “Eco Geeks” won a national challenge grand prize of $50,000 in grants and scholarships for their efforts.
