BSO looking for school DVD thief; with video
Most people would rather live without a DVD and VCR player than go to jail for stealing one, but two Broward County teens might find that having sticky fingers may earn them a free trip to the Broward Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
Surveillance video from Park Lakes Elementary School in Lauderdale Lakes shows a young man and young woman walking through the school at around 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 17. As the pair walked by the portables, the[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4WK0Ty3siE] male suspect tried the doors until he found one that was open. He went inside and moments later walked out of the classroom with a DVD/VCR player inside a box.
The following Monday morning, a security specialist at the school realized they had been burglarized and notified the Broward Sheriff’s Office. A visit to the classroom confirmed that a DVD/VCR player had been removed from a TV stand.
The pair faces a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of petit theft.
The male suspect was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and jean shorts, and has a short afro. The female suspect was wearing a hooded sweat shirt and shorts.
Anyone who recognizes the suspects is asked to contact BSO Lauderdale Lakes Detective Michael Paparella at or Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for anyone with information leading to an arrest.
