Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – What’s five feet tall, has a four-foot heel and is glamming up Broward Health hospitals? The Stiletto Strut. A series of custom-designed artworks created by local artisans, the Stiletto Strut is an artistic venture that pays tribute to all those affected by breast cancer and will be on display at each Broward Health hospital throughout MAMMOPALOOZA, which runs Oct. 1-31.
The idea of the Stiletto Strut came from Broward Health’s partnership with Glam-A-THON. Tammy Gail, executive director of Glam-A-Thon, approached Broward Health about tying together her premier event, the Glam Doll Strut, with Broward Health’s MAMMOPALOOZA by exhibiting acrylic shoes that have previously been used as Glam Doll Strut displays. Broward Health executives loved the idea, especially because the stilettos would add a fun, artistic flavor to MAMMOPALOOZA events.
Glam-A-THON and Broward Health put out a call to local artists, and after much deliberation four were chosen to customize the five stilettos. The selected artist proposals were excellent representations of all that MAMMOPALOOZA represents and skillfully incorporated references to Glam-A-THON.
The artists are currently completing their designs so that the stilettos can be delivered to Broward Health Medical Center, Broward Health Coral Springs, Broward Health North, Broward Health Imperial Point and Broward Health Weston the week of Oct. 1, which kicks off MAMMOPALOOZA. The Stiletto Strut will also be on display at Glam Doll Strut on Saturday, Oct. 13, weather permitting.
