Campers can take advantage of these other amenities available at this 431.4-acre park, including Splash Adventure (an interactive children’s water playground), a lake for Ski Rixen (cable water-skiing), mountain bike trails, and a variety of boats for rent. Get to the park early to get the best seats to view firework displays from across Broward County and save money, too ($1.50/person before 7:30 p.m.). Last year more than 1,100 people scanned the sky from the vantage point of the park’s hill, which is the highest man-made elevation in the county. Viewers get a panoramic view and a lot less traffic. Dependent on weather conditions, Independence Day viewers may be able to see the firework displays from Davie, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Sunrise, and possibly Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood. Most of these shows are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. No fireworks or sparklers, grilling, or horses will be permitted in the park. Viewers are encouraged to bring beach chairs and blankets, as well as food and drinks. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. Event times and weather cannot be guaranteed. Dogs must be at least 5 months old and have a current Broward County rabies tag. No aggressive dogs will be allowed. Basic dog obedience commands will be covered (to the beat of your favorite tunes) including sit, stay, down, and come; as well as how to walk on a leash and how to greet/behave with other dogs and people. One adult handler per dog. On the first day of class, meet in the parking lot by the park’s management office. Basic Obedience is from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Bring a nylon buckle collar, a six-foot leash (no retractable leashes), and a bag of treats in small pieces.
