Coral Springs names new city manager
At a special meeting on Tuesday, October 26, the Coral Springs City Commission unanimously approved Erdal Dönmez as the new City Manager effective November 1, 2010 through October 31, 2013. Current City Manager Michael Levinson will retire from his position effective October 31, 2010.
“Tonight, this Commission places its full faith and trust in me to lead this organization into the future. I am deeply touched by such recognition and honored to become the next City Manager,” Dönmez said. “My focus will be on continuously improving the ways we provide services to our residential and business customers, and on ensuring we remain the premier community in which to live, work and raise a family.”
“You’ve been with us for many, many years. I’m very excited about the possibilities for our community under your leadership,” Mayor Scott Brook said.
“Having thoroughly reviewed the agreement and having had my questions answered, it is my honor and privilege to move for approval,” Vice Mayor Claudette Bruck said.
“I am honored to have you on with us. It’s good to see someone home grown that’s been here for a while,” Commission Tom Powers said.
“I am energized by you coming on board,” Commissioner Vince Boccard said. “I’m looking forward to a wonderful future. I want the citizens of Coral Springs to know that I think you’re going to do a phenomenal job.”
“You are taking a huge responsibility on of more than 750 employees and thousands of volunteers. It’s going to be very nice and as close to a seamless transition as we could possibly ask for,” Commissioner Roy Gold said.
