Free immunizations from Broward Health Department
The Broward County Health Department will offer free immunizations for children of all ages (birth to 18 years of age) during the months of July and August at various locations throughout Broward County. In addition, a “Back To School Immunization and Community Resource Fair” will take place on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 9am to 4pm at the Lauderhill Mall. Lauderhill Mall is located at 1267 NW 40th Avenue, Lauderhill 33313. Additional Immunization Outreach locations are listed on the attached schedules.
Historically, demand for back to school immunizations greatly increases during the week before school opens. Broward County Health Department’s goal is to assist children to enter school timely and decrease the rate of unimmunized children by bringing this much needed service directly to the residents of Broward County. The “Back To School Immunization and Community Resource Fair” will feature free immunizations, KidCare Health Insurance for children, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) information, Dental information for children, birth certificates, library card applications, drowning prevention information, school readiness information, fun giveaways and a visit by Dora The Explorer.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parent or legal guardian should remember to bring the child’s immunization records.
Florida law requires that all children from birth through 18 years follow recommended immunization schedules and guidelines. The recommended schedules and guidelines can be found on the health department’s website at www.browardchd.org. Children must be immunized before entering any Broward County School.
To avoid the long lines associated with “back to school immunizations,” plan a visit to one of Broward County Health Department’s Immunization Outreach locations during the coming summer months.
