Free foreclosure workshop in Sunrise July 17
On Saturday, July 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the City will present a Foreclosure Intervention & Homeowners’ Assistance Clinic at the Sunrise Senior Center (10650 West Oakland Park Boulevard, 33351). This free workshop for residents, brought to you by the Sunrise City Commission and the Affordable Housing Advisory Board, will include educational sessions on the following topics:
- The Foreclosure Process
- Legal Issues in Foreclosure
- Federal Tax Implications of Foreclosure
- Foreclosure and Credit

Foreclosure intervention counseling will also be provided, along with housing and credit counseling.
Participants are advised to bring the following documents, if available/applicable:
- Driver’s license
- Social Security card
- Recent credit report
- Bank statements (checking, savings, money market and CDs)
- Mortgage statements
- All related mortgage documents, including 2008 and 2009 Federal tax returns (all pages, plus W-2s)
- Court summons default notice
- Documents related to hardships (medical records, unemployment compensation stubs, etc.)

Organizations represented at the workshop include The Foreclosure Project, LLC; the Urban League of Broward County; Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida; and Apprisen Financial Advocates/CCCS. For more information, call (re-registration is NOT required.
