Taste of the Nation raises $84k for local non-profits
Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation Fort Lauderdale/South Palm Beach County, one of the area’s top food and wine fundraisers, boasted a sensational array of delectable food and a vibrant atmosphere. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous pre-event cocktail “preview” party, the scrumptious specialties of dozens of South Florida’s top celebrity chefs, fine wine and spirits, accompanied by silent and live auctions.
Sari Vatske, Share Our Strength’s Florida Field Manager, reports that the event, held May 13th, raised $84,00 through sponsorships, ticket sales, donations, and the auctions. More than 1,000 participants filled the huge, beautifully decorated space at the Broward Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale.
Share Our Strength, the leading national nonprofit working to end childhood hunger, based in Washington, D.C., aims to end childhood hunger through various fundraising platforms such as Taste of the Nation. Local beneficiaries of this year’s event are the Children’s Services Council Million Meals Committee, Florence Fuller Child Development Centers in Boca Raton and Feeding South Florida, the area’s largest food bank. Taste of
the Nation was part of a nationwide effort taking place from May- August in more than 45 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The Fort Lauderdale/South Palm Beach Taste of the Nation Committee Chairwoman was Kelly Murphy of Panache Party Rentals. ChefCo-Chair was James Dean Max of 3030 Ocean, who led his fellow chefs in cooking up the tasty presentation. Chef Oliver Saucy of Café Maxx was Honorary Chef Chairman.
Featured special guests were Food Network star Ingrid Hoffman of Simply Delicioso, and Chef Ralph Pagano, Hell’s Kitchen alum, and star of Pressure Cook. Hosting the event were radio personalities Paul Castronovo & Young Ron Brewer of BIG 105.9 FM.
