POMPANO DOCTOR ARRESTED FOR TRAFFICKING OXYCODONE

Date: 3/27/10
Time: 7:25 p.m. Jurisdiction: Broward County
Place of Occurrence: 9960 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Sunrise

Victim(s):

  • State of Florida

Suspect(s):

  • Steven Brown, 45, male, 10/26/64, 18671 Collins Ave., Sunny Isles Beach

He was arrested in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant, but he wasn’t there waiting for a happy meal. Instead the Pompano Beach doctor sat in his convertible, with the top down, abusing a controlled substance.

At around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, undercover detectives spotted the doctor’s BMW convertible parked in between two parking spaces outside a food eatery and pulled up next to it. The detectives observed in plain view as Dr. Steven Brown, 45, prepared to ingest what appeared to be a 30 MG Oxycodone pill. As investigators approached the vehicle, the doctor threw a pill bottle on the floorboard by his feet in an attempt to conceal it. Detectives found two 30 MG pills of Oxycodone, a bottle under someone else’s name containing 48 additional pills of Oxycodone, and an unlabeled bottle identified by the doctor as liquid Oxydose.

Dr. Brown was arrested Saturday, March 27, and bonded out of jail Sunday night, March 28. He admitted to investigators that the pills were not his and is facing charges of trafficking and possession of Oxycodone.

Dr. Steven Brown is the only doctor employed at Pompano Pain Management, located at 605 E. Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach.
