Hollywood Mayor Bober to Jump with the US Army Golden Knights
Mayor Peter Bober will join Mayors from across Florida on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Homestead Air Reserve Base to participate in a team tandem jump with the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team. “I’ve been looking forward to it since the moment I received the invitation,” says Mayor Bober. ”I think it is a fantastic way to show support for what the Soldiers of the U.S. Army, and other Americans serving in uniform, are doing all around the world.”
The 12,000 foot jump is part of Community Covenant Day, an event to show support for the U.S. military. Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Johnson, Commander, US Army Recruiting
Battalion Miami and Mayor Don Slesnick, President of the Florida League of Mayors are hosting the tandem jump.
The welcome and introductions will begin at 8:00 a.m. followed by a tandem jump class. The first group will depart for their jump at 10:00 a.m. Once the jumps are completed, the officials will take part in Community Convenant signing ceremony at 1:00 p.m. designed to show support for building community partnerships that strengthen the resiliency and readiness of servicemembers and their families.
