Broward schools still getting Haitian refugees
As of Friday, February 26, 2010, six and a half weeks after an earthquake-ravaged Haiti, a total of 894 displaced school age children from that country have enrolled in 190 Broward County Public Schools and Charter Schools. Of that number, 715 have limited English language skills, making them eligible for services and support from the District’s English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program.
