Salvation Army in need of blankets to help warm homeless

Doors will open today, Monday, January 4 at 5:00 pm.  The Salvation Army of Broward County, 1445 West Broward Blvd. will open their doors to homeless people who need a place to stay during the cold weather.  Food and hot beverages will be served.

Donations of new or used blankets in good condition are needed.

On a normal night, the Salvation Army provides shelter for 160 people. According to Major Tom Louden, Area Commander, “No one will be turned away.”

For more than 80 years, The Salvation Army has provided numerous services to the people of Broward County, including emergency shelter, support for drug and alcohol rehabilitation, housing, job training, children’s programs, holiday food and gifts, and emergency financial assistance for families in crises.
