Fort Lauderdale Visitor’s Bureau creates iPhone app

Anyone planning a trip to Greater Fort Lauderdale, there is now an app for that. The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB) introduces iVisitLauderdale.

Recognizing that the mobile platform is reshaping the ways in which consumers plan, book and consume travel, the free “app” is part of the GFLCVB’s continued marketing efforts to reach visitors through a variety of social media platforms, explains Nicki Grossman, president of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention  and Visitors Bureau. The iVisitLauderdale application leads the way to an enhanced visitor experience with up-to-date information and the latest GPS mapping technology, video, images and other features.

“As we have been building a strong presence in the social media realm, we are very excited about the launch of iVisitLauderdale,” said Grossman. “Whether visitors are trying to plan a day filled with shopping, museums and dining, discovering which of our eight beaches best suits their personality or are looking for a great deal amongst our collection of hotels and resorts, the new iPhone application is sure to make things easier and more fun.”

iVisitLauderdale is downloadable on iTunes or from Greater Fort Lauderdale”s website, www.sunny.org/iphone. Some of useful features, include:

  • The iGuide provides an overview of area attractions and ways to play, including SCUBA, shopping, dining, nature, and more. It also provides easy access to area weather updates, transportation information, events and special deals. Information about beaches from Deerfield Beach to Hollywood is also included.
  • The Explore section includes must-see points of interest and up-to-date information on prices, hours and more. The GPS-based locator serves as an added bonus with maps and driving directions technology for hundreds of hotels, spa resorts, Superior Small Lodgings, restaurants, shops, attractions and much more.
  • Download vibrant videos and pictures of the destination.
  • Users can also personalize their app by adding interests to their Favorites, and sharing with family and friends.
