Art exhibit at Broward Main Library focuses on art as a business
The second annual art exhibit “Doing Business As…Artist Entrepreneurs” (D.B.A. 2010) will feature seven Broward County Residents and “Artist As An Entrepreneur Institute” (AEI) Alumni: Katherine K. Allen, Jeff Breed, Olga Dziembowska, Liliana Gerardi, Alan Isely, Rachel Piering and Jami Nix Rahn. Featured also are three honorary exhibiting artists: Virginia Fifield, Jacklyn Laflamme and LeeAnna Yater. These three artists spearheaded the first DBA exhibit in 2009 and will return as Honorary Artists for the exhibit that opens January 6, 2010. They are a diverse group of professional artists in painting, mixed media and photography. This exhibit affords these highly talented South Florida artists the opportunity to utilize the business skills and information gained from the AEI course to spring board and further their careers. The AEI is an artist-focused course of study designed to assist all artists by cultivating and advancing their business skills. To date 180+ artists have graduated from the program.

Opening Reception: Saturday, January 23rd from 2pm to 5:30pm
Closing Forum: Saturday, February 20th from 3pm-4:30 pm
On February 20th, a special Closing Forum, a re-union of AEI artists and instructors will provide discussion of the successes of all the exhibiting artists and other visiting AEI alumni. Special guest, Jackie Battenfield, author of “The Artist’s Guide: How to Make a Living Doing What You Love” will provide commentary about her book and information on how to succeed in the creative industry.
