Coral Springs teen killed while crossing street

A Coral Springs resident died on November 27, 2009 from injuries suffered on November 25, 2009 when she was struck by a vehicle as she attempted to cross Sample Road.
Preliminary investigation shows that around 6:19pm, Shakeymah Lucas, 15, of Coral Springs was walking north across Sample Road just east of Coral Ridge Drive when a 2006 green Chrysler driven by Robert Raska, 41, of Davie, struck her. Raska was traveling east on Sample Road in the left lane and Lucas was not in the cross walk when the crash occurred. Lucas was transported by air rescue to North Broward Medical Center. After being treated Lucas was transported to Broward General Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on November 27, 2009. Raska was not injured.
This crash is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Officer John Malvin of the Coral Springs Police Department Traffic Unit at 954-346-1269.
