Broward County to Issue Temporary Limo, Sedan and Van Permits During Bowl Games

To help address transportation needs for the expected crush of visitors to South Florida for the Pro Bowl Game, January 31, and the Super Bowl, February 7, the Broward County Permitting, Licensing and Consumer Protection Division is issuing temporary operating permits for limousines, luxury sedans and shuttle vans. Both games will be played at Landshark Stadium; the media centers for the games will be located in Broward County, as will the National Football League and American Football Conference headquarter hotels.

The permits, which are good for a 14-day period from January 28 to February 10, enable vehicles to make pre-arranged pickups in Broward County, including the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The permits cannot be used at Port Everglades.

Temporary permits are available to current Broward County limousine operators who want to increase their fleet for the duration of the games and related festivities. Those operators may also sponsor a limousine operator licensed in another jurisdiction who wants to operate in Broward County for the events. Operators who are awarded a temporary permit must pay a non-refundable fee of $100; the sponsorship fee is also $100. All operators who are awarded a temporary permit must have the required insurance and abide by all County regulations as well as the Broward County Code of Conduct.

Applications are available online at www.broward.org/permittingandlicensing, by calling 954-765-4400 or visiting Government Center West at 1 N. University Drive in Plantation.
