Cash for Trash: Highland Gardens

Lend a hand to Highland Gardens Civic Association by beautifying its neighborhood through trash collection. With each trash bag collected, the neighborhood association earns $5 towards its association fund.

Candy Cane Parade

Let’s celebrate the Holidays by volunteering at the Candy Cane Parade. Volunteers are needed to carry banners, assist with marshaling, and taking surveys. Come join the fun!

Household Hazardous Waste & Electronic Recycling Event

Lend a hand by greeting residents, assisting residents with paperwork, and handing out literature during this event, hosted by Broward County in partnership with the City of Hollywood. This event encourages Broward county residents to drop-of household hazardous waste or electronics free of charge.

Hollywood Beach Cleanups: Keep Broward Beautiful!

Join us in keeping Hollywood’s beach clean! Groups are welcome to join us! Volunteers are needed to collect liter along the beach. Before the beach clean-up, Keep Broward Beautiful will provide an informative presentation.

Dates: December 12th, January 23rd, February 13th, March 13th, or April 3rd

Volunteer Description: Intern will work on documenting and researching the City’s green practices and initiatives for the FGBC application. Candidates should be majoring in urban planning, engineering, or environmental studies.

German Translator

Department: Records & Archive Division

Days: Monday – Friday (days flexible)

Volunteer Description: Volunteers will translate German documents and scrapbooks by a renowned Hollywood photographer. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is required.

Age Requirement: At least 14 years old or older

Guardian Ad Litem Program

Be an advocate for abused, abandoned, and neglected children. Spend time with a child to understand and voice their needs.

Walk for Hunger

Jubilee Center of South Broward

Join the fight against hunger by walking 1.8 miles around the golf course, distributing refreshments, and assisting throughout the event as a volunteer.

Holiday Orphan Thanksgiving Day Event

Lend a hand by helping to cook, serve, and clean at this Thanksgiving event! This event is expected to have over 1,000 needy children and families. Volunteers also are needed to bring cooked Thanksgiving dishes or turkeys!

PRESENTERS NEEDED for THUMBODY, TOO PROGRAM

Mental Health Association of Broward County

Teach kindergarten students to be responsible and respectful to themselves and others. They learn to like themselves, to be nice to others and to make good choices. In this 45-minute program, the presenter uses a puppet resembling a thumb to teach children that they are unique – so special, in fact, their thumbprints are different from everybody else’s.

Age Requirement: 18 years old or over (must have time available during school day).

Time Commitment: Thumbody presenters attend 3 hours of training. Each classroom presentation lasts 45 minutes.
