Two Fort Lauderdale men arrested for sex with juveniles
Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) special agents with the Miami Regional Operations Center, Wilton Manors Police Department and the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department arrested Larry Allen Nelson, 49, of Fort Lauderdale, last night on six counts of lewd and lascivious on a child under 16 and one count of violation of probation. Nelson is currently a registered sexual offender in Florida for an offense that occurred in 1986 in Broward County.
Wilton Manors Police Department began the investigation after discovering that on November 3rd Nelson met with two female juveniles at a Wilton Manors motel for the purpose of sexual relations. FDLE was asked to assist. Agents allege Nelson arranged the meeting over the Internet and had previously met with the two juveniles on four or five occasions since March. On the most recent occasion, one of the juveniles used a cell phone to record Nelson and the other female juvenile having sex without Nelson’s knowledge.
Agents seized several computer towers, routers and modems from Nelson’s home last night. More charges are pending a thorough forensic review of the seized items. Nelson was booked into the Broward County Jail with no bond.
Second Fort Lauderdale man arrested in separate case
David Forget
On November 1, 2009 the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, in conjunction with the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), arrested David R. Forget, 6/21/1982, a Plantation resident, and charged him with Traveling to Meet a Minor to Accomplish a Sex Act and Using a Computer to Solicit/Lure a Child for a Sex Act.
Forget, who is a registered sex offender, contacted an undercover Fort Lauderdale detective on the internet who was posing as a 15-year-old female. Forget expressed his desire to meet her to engage in a detailed sex act. The conversation continued as Forget asked the “teen” to wear provocative clothing and to meet him at a specific location at a specific time. At approximately 2:00pm, Forget arrived at the specified location at which time task force members took Forget into custody without incident. Forget has prior arrests and convictions for similar sex crimes.
ICAC task force members involved in this operation were from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Attorney General’s Office.
