BANK ROBBERY OF SUN TRUST BANK, 501 E Las Olas
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating a bank robbery that occurred at Sun Trust Bank located at 501 E. Las Olas Boulevard at approximately 9:30am Friday Nov, 20th 2009.
According to bank employees, the suspect was lingering around the lobby area and waited until all customers exited the store. Once he was alone in the bank, the suspect approached a teller and placed a note on the counter stating he had a gun and demanded money. There was no weapon seen but the suspect kept his hand in his pocket as if he did. The teller complied with the demand and gave him cash. The suspect fled on foot and was not located.
The suspect is a w/m, approximately 30 – 50 years of age with a receding hairline and a possible goatee. He has a stocky build and was wearing blue jean shorts, a white t-shirt, a brown jacket and a white Florida Gators baseball cap.
