Unlike Kermit, Living Green Fair Nov 14-15 makes it easy to be green

“It’s on,” Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober declared to fellow Broward County officials Mayor Anne Castro of Dania Beach, Mayor Marilyn Gerber of Coconut Creek and Vice Mayor Angelo Castillo of Pembroke Pines at a press wyland children's mural with kidsconference recently to announce the launch of the South Florida Living Green Fair Mayors Challenge.

The gauntlet was thrown down by several South Florida Mayors leading the efforts for a tri-county competition between cities to register the most people for an online water conservation pledge.  The South Florida Living Green Fair Challenge was developed by famed Marine artist and conservationist Wyland and introduces simple steps residents can take to change their water usage habits.  Each resident to take the pledge at www.livinggreenfair.com receives a free, family pass for five to the South Florida Living Green Fair November 14-15 in  John U. Lloyd Beach State Park 6501 N. Ocean Drive, Dania Beach .  The winning city receives a one-year loan of an original Wyland mural, created at the South Florida Living Green Fair, to display in any public space.

“The South Florida Living Green Fair is the first event of its kind, helping families and businesses get better direction on the road to living green,” said David Etzler, the Fair’s founder and producer.  “Water conservation is a natural first place to start, especially here in Florida.  With the support of Wyland and these forward-thinking Mayors, we’re confident our community can begin taking steps to make a positive difference in our water supply.”

Through seminars, exhibits, and interactive activities for children and adults, attendees at the South Florida Living Green Fair will learn how to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle without much effort. More than water's extreme journey100 exhibitors will be on-site sampling organic foods and goods, giving product demonstrations and showcasing real solutions to living greener every day.

Never bought a CFL?  Don’t know where to start with organic foods?  Still using plastic shopping bags?  No problem! Anyone looking to make the first steps toward a greener lifestyle can learn how at this interactive, eco-friendly, South Florida community event. The Living Green Fair is a two-day outdoor experience for those looking for simple and affordable ways to “go green.” The fair will include a Kids Eco Zone, interactive art from marine artist

Wyland, samplings of organic foods, and innovative exhibits showcasing beginner methods for a green lifestyle. Contests and activities will educate kids about being environmentally friendly, and seminars and demonstrations will educate adults on how to easily become engaged in a greener everyday life.
