Public DOT workshop on I-75 project development
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 4 has scheduled an Alternatives Public Workshop for the SR93/I-75 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Broward County Southwest Regional Library, located at 16835 Sheridan Street, Pembroke Pines.
The overall projects limits are along SR 93/I-75 from the SR 826/Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade County to I-595 in Broward County.
The workshop will be an open-house forum where all viable alternatives that have been developed will be on display. The goal of the workshop is to collect and evaluate the public’s comments on these alternatives before selecting a preferred alternative.
Some Important Topics Include
Noise walls: A noise study will be done as part of the PD&E study to determine whether noise walls are warranted. If walls are warranted, FDOT will coordinate with adjacent landowners who will be given a chance to comment prior to construction.
Transit corridor: The PD&E study will consider incorporating various modes of public transit into the corridor, including bus, light rail and heavy rail. Potential transit stations along the corridor will also be considered. The transit corridor would most likely be located within the median area.
Managed lanes: This project will consider the use of managed travel lanes, such as reversible lanes and/or restricted access express toll lanes.
