Counties Prepare for Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit
A precedent-setting gathering of local officials, federal and state legislators, regional transportation, planning and water management authorities, and members of the regional Climate Change/Green Task Forces representing Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties will gather at the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit, Friday, October 23, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. The purpose of the summit is to develop a regional collaboration that will support a coordinated climate change strategy.
The program will feature speakers of national stature on climate change policy. The morning features a panel discussion among local officials and members of local climate change initiatives on challenges, vulnerabilities, needs and lessons learned. The afternoon panels include a technical discussion of regional considerations for mitigating and adapting to climate change. The concluding session will emphasize climate change strategy for Southeast Florida, determining the focal points for regional collaboration.
Seating is limited to invited officials; however, the summit will be Webcast live from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the day of the event at www.broward.org/climatechange.
