Young women’s D.R.E.A.M. program in Miramar

The City of Miramar will begin registration for its second session of the D.R.E.A.M Female Young Adult Recreation Program. The program is geared to young adult females between the ages of 12 to 16 year-olds. Our goal is to develop leadership skills by teaching them to become productive young adults in today’s society. Each month will have a focus topic, ranging from education, judicial matters, health, animals, armed forces, and much more. Our meeting days will be Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00pm at Sunset Lakes Community Center, 2801 SW 186th Ave. and Fairway Park Community Center, 3700 Largo Drive. This program will include special guest speakers, social skills, crafts projects, and field trips. Field trip days may vary and may be held on Saturdays and/or Teacher Planning days.

The fee for the D.R.E.A.M. Recreation Program includes a $25 registration for the year and $10 per month for field trips and onsite activities. Additional fees will be optional for special field trip outings. Registration will run from October 6, 2009 thru January 15, 2010 (or until all spaces are filled). You can register Monday through Friday at Sunset Lakes Community Center, 2801 SW 186 Ave, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Fairway Park Community Center, 3700 Largo Drive, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Our start date for the program will be Wednesday, February 10, 2010 with a welcome and social gathering at the City of Miramar Commission Chambers from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
