Young readers invited to “Stories & Sketching” event

Children of all ages are invited to celebrate the opening of the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale’s newest exhibition Glackens as Illustrator with a special “Stories and Sketching” storytelling event along with the  moaspringSeptember Broward County Library Card Drive.  Participants will enjoy a short family tour of the Glackens as Illustrator exhibition plus a special story time for young readers by Spring Raulerson, Broward County youth services librarian, immediately followed by sketching in the galleries.

Glackens as Illustrator (September 5, 2009-May 3, 2010) highlights the graphic work of William Glackens drawn from the Museum’s extensive collection of sketch books and illustrations.  The exhibition is in conjunction with the upcoming Normal Rockwell exhibition entitled American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell (November 14, 2009-February 7, 2010).

WHEN: Saturday, September 26, 2 p.m. – Storytelling followed by sketching in the galleries.

WHERE: Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale,One East Las Olas Boulevard at Andrews Avenue

COST: FREE for children with a Broward County Library card and Museum members, and free with admission for nonmembers.  Library Card sign-up will be available the same day
