Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale Joined Forces with Exclusive Gryphon Nightclub To Present Late Night Art Party
The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, Nova Southeastern University, teamed up with exclusive European-style nightclub Gryphon, located in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, to present a late night art party celebrating the artists and collectors featured in the Museum’s current internationally, critically-acclaimed exhibition With You I Want to Live. Images of the exhibition’s works were projected on screens throughout club.
Guests enjoyed free admission from 10 p.m. to midnight, as well as two complimentary drink tickets. Gryphon’s costumed dancers added fire to the nightclub’s trademark deep house and techno vibe.
An elevated private VIP area was available to guests of the event. Acclaimed Deejay Roland performed on a state-of-the-art Funktion-One sound system.
With You I Want to Live, which dominates 17,000 square feet of the Museum’s special exhibition galleries, brings together over 100 selected paintings, sculptures and photographs curated from the collections of local art collectors Francie Bishop Good + David Horvitz, featuring some of the world’s greatest female contemporary artists; and Gordon Locksley + George T. Shea, featuring work from American, British and Asian artists. Bishop Good, Horvitz, Locksley and Shea are all tireless collectors passionately engaged in the contemporary art scene.
The exhibition title is named for a neon wall sculpture by Tracey Emin in the Locksley collection. The exhibition opened to the public on April 18, 2009. The Locksley + Shea Collection, installed in the Museum’s second floor galleries, will remain on view through March 22, 2010; the Bishop Good + Horvitz Collection, in the first floor galleries, will remain on view through October 12, 2009.
