Dania Beach man charged with DUI manslaughter
A Dania Beach man was speeding and driving drunk in the early-morning hours of July 9 when he drove his black Ford Excursion through a stop sign and hit another SUV, BSO traffic homicide detectives determined.
The driver of the other vehicle, 54-year-old David Rose of Hollywood, was injured in the crash and died six days later at Hollywood Memorial Hospital. Robert Marsicano, 28, of Dania Beach was charged Wednesday with DUI manslaughter, DUI manslaughter with an unlawful blood alcohol content, vehicular homicide, unlawful speed and running a stop sign.
At 3:57 a.m. July 9, Marsicano was speeding southbound on Southwest 2nd Avenue when he ran a stop sign at Dixie Highway and hit the driver’s side of Rose’s purple Jeep Grand Cherokee. Rose had been heading east on Dixie Highway. Rose was transported to the hospital and died at 6 a.m. July 15.
Toxicology tests show that Marsicano’s blood alcohol level was over the legal limit at the time of the crash.
