Salvation Army Family Stores Gearing Up with Back to School Bargains

Spend $25 or more and get a $5 coupon
to spend in the stores in September
According to the National Retail Federation, the average family is expected to spend $548.72 on school clothes and supplies, down 7.7% from $594.24 in 2008. As a result of the ailing economy, more and more families plan to purchase store-brands, products, use more coupons and over 18% report that will go to thrift stores for back-to-school clothing.
Managers of The Salvation Army Family Stores in Broward County and Miami/Dade are expecting a higher than usual shopper turn-out this year and they are ready.
All six Broward stores and all four Miami/Dade stores have a large selection of children’s clothing where a parent can outfit their child from head to toe for a fraction of the cost. Items include tops, shorts, jeans, backpacks, shoes and even school uniforms in either new or gently worn condition.
According to Captain Henry Hudson, “We have a phenomenal assortment of name brand merchandise that all the kids want and we are saving parents lots of money at the same time.”
“If you have never shopped with us before, now is a great time to see what great values we have,” said Lt. Jay Ward. “I wouldn’t sell anything in our stores that my own children wouldn’t wear,” Ward added.
100% of the proceeds from sales at the Salvation Army Family Super Store go directly to the operation of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers.
The Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is an effective residential work therapy program that offers men the opportunity to recapture their dignity and pride through emotional, physical and spiritual rehabilitation. This rehabilitation program is solely supported by income from the stores and monthly car and boat auctions.
