Ft. Lauderdale police investigating police-involved shooting
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating a police involved shooting that occurred yesterday at approximately 3:55 p.m. The shooting took place at 200 East Broward Boulevard at the National City Bank drive-thru area.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the Fort Lauderdale Police Department received information of a vehicle inside of the drive-thru area attempting to commit a fraudulent transaction. While officers were en-route they received information that the bank employees recognized the individuals inside of the vehicle from a previous fraudulent transaction.
Upon officers arriving on-scene, a confrontation ensued between the officers and the vehicle. As a result of this confrontation one Fort Lauderdale Police Officer fired their firearm striking one subject. The subject that was struck by the firearm was transported to Broward General Medical Center where he underwent surgery. He is currently listed in serious condition and is in ICU.
The other two occupants of the vehicle were detained and are being questioned by police. At this time the investigation is on-going and will continue.
