New police chief in Coconut Creek

Coconut Creek residents are invited to meet their new Chief of Police on Thursday, October 29, 2009, 7:00 p.m. at the Coconut Creek Recreation Complex (4455 Sol Press Blvd.).

Having more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, including twenty-one years of experience with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the chief law enforcement agency in the State of Florida, Michael Mann will officially join the Coconut Creek Police Department on October 12, 2009. He will be sworn in by the Coconut Creek city commission on Oct. 8 during their 7 p.m. meeting.

While employed with FDLE, Mr. Mann served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Director of the South Force Money Laundering Strike Force, Special Agent Supervisor and Special Agent.  Prior to FDLE, he was a Police Officer for the City of Plantation, County Investigator and Detective for the Somerset County Prosecutors Office in New Jersey, and a Police Officer for the North Brunswick Police Department.

He holds a Bachelor Degree from Barry University, and an A.I.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Middlesex County College in New Jersey.  Throughout the years, he has been awarded numerous commendations, letters of appreciation and awards, including “Officer of the Year” from the State of Florida.
