Wanted by Broward Sheriff: Witnesses to Champs Robbery; with video

When two masked men went into the Champ’s Food Store on the afternoon of Dec. 21 and aggressively pointed guns at the clerk while they robbed the store, there were witnesses.

Though no one came forward with information for Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives investigating the crime, surveillance video shows a man in a green hat leaving the store as the masked men approached, frightened customers in the store as the thugs demanded money from the clerk, a resident standing in a yard nearby and a city bus that passed the store just as the robbers were running away.

Once inside, the robbers pointed their guns at two customers and the store clerk as they demanded cash. They both had their fingers on the triggers of their guns throughout the ordeal. Detectives are asking any witnesses to the crime to contact them. Even if a witness thinks his or her perspective would not be valuable, it might be a key piece of the puzzle detectives need to identify the criminals.

Surveillance video shows that one robber wore long, green shorts, a plaid, long-sleeved, hooded shirt over a white T-shirt, a ball cap, a dark blue mask, black sneakers and white socks. He carried a silver revolver. The other wore long, black shorts, a grey sweatshirt, dark ball cap and a white mask. He also wore black sneakers with white laces and carried a black handgun.

Anyone who witnessed this crime can report it to BSO Robbery Detective Armando Enrique at (or anonymously call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
