One arrested, one at large in Pembroke Park purse snatching; with video
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested one suspect while a second remains at large following a gas station purse-snatching last month caught on camera. Another video obtained shows the wanted suspect using her victim’s stolen credit cards at a Dania Beach food market.
On December 17, Darlene Morris, 39, was fueling up her 2007 Chevy at a Pembroke Park gas station when she was surprised by a woman inside her car, snatching her purse. The thief jumped into a white, four-door 2005 Mitsubishi Galant and, as Morris attempted to open the car door, it sped off, dragging Morris a short distance. Morris fell to the ground and sustained minor scratches.
Surveillance video showed the burglary in progress. While Morris finished fueling, she left the driver’s door open. The
unidentified female suspect jumped into the Chevy and snatched the Ed Hardy designer bag, valued at about $950 including the contents. Quantina Shatae Badger, 22, of Hallandale Beach, admitted she was the driver of the car and was seen on video using the stolen credit cards at a Hollywood shoe store the same night. Badger was arrested January 5th and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary, grand theft and credit card and ID fraud. Bond was set at $26,000, and she was released from jail on January 8th.
Another surveillance video obtained by detectives shows the unidentified female purse-snatching suspect withdrawing cash from an ATM at the Happy Family Food Market in Dania Beach the night of the caper. She was wearing a striped shirt in the surveillance video and stole several hundred dollars using Morris’ cards.
Anyone with information about the unidentified female striped shirt suspect seen in the videos is asked to call BSO Detective Greg Murphy at or call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
