Surfrider Foundation hosting beach cleanup Sat. Jan. 22

The Surfrider Foundation, with over 50,000 members, is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.

This Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 8am, come and join them to keep our beaches clean so we can all enjoy them to their fullest.

What: Beach clean-up

Time: 8:00 am

Where: Lauderdale By The Sea – On Block North Of Commercial Pier – Villas By The Sea / Town Hall Parking Lot

These events are free and they supply the bags and gloves. It is an easy way to do something good for our beaches and ocean and to raise public awareness of issues like littering and protection of our marine resources. Students can receive community service hours credits for this activity.

MONTHLY BEACH CLEAN-UPS, a project of Surfrider Foundation, is coordinated locally by Surfrider Foundation Broward County Chapter.

Lauderdale By The Sea will be conducting a Town Commission workshop on January 25, 2011 regulating recreational beach activities. The Commission invites all residents, condo owners, business owners and beach goers to attend this workshop as the town will review kite-surfing, skim-boarding, fishing and boating.
