95 Express Miramar Bus Service Inaugural Ceremony January 10

Starting on Monday, January 10, 2011, the Broward County Transit (BCT) will introduce express bus service between Miramar and downtown Miami. The inauguration ceremony will take place on January 10, 2010.

Event Details: County, state and local officials will provide comments on the new 95 Express Miramar bus service that starts on January 10 and will travel in the I-95 Express toll lanes between Broward and Miami-Dade counties, providing new service to the Civic Center business/hospital district, as well as downtown Miami. Funding for the new regional bus service was made possible by a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.

The new 95 Express Miramar bus service will start at the Miramar Central Station, located at Miramar Town Center, Civic Center Place at Red Road, and travel along Red Road, the Florida Turnpike Extension, and then proceed on I-95 in the managed high occupancy toll (‘HOT’) lanes to downtown Miami. Stops will include the Civic Center business district, Miami-Dade Government Center and Miami Bus Terminal. The northbound buses departing from downtown Miami to Broward County will perform the reverse route.

The first three morning trips traveling from the downtown Miami Bus Terminal back to the Miramar Town Center will pick up passengers with no stops in-between, and the first three afternoon trips traveling from the Miramar Town Center back to Miami will pick up passengers with no stops in-between.

The service will operate every 30 minutes on weekdays only from 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. from the Miramar Town Center, and from 3:40 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. from Northwest 8 Street and Northwest 1 Avenue (Overtown Metrorail Station). Wi-Fi accessible, hybrid articulated buses will be used on the route.

Convenient parking will be available at the Miramar Central Station, second floor parking garage. Complimentary parking is offered to passengers with a 95 Express parking hangtag, obtained by calling South Florida Commuter Services at 1-800-234-RIDE or by logging on to www.1800234ride.com.

Premium 95 Express bus fares apply to the 95 Express Miramar and Pembroke Pines services as follows: $2.35 for a one-way trip; $1.15 reduced fare one-way trip; $23.50 Premium 10-Ride Bus Pass and $85 Premium 31-Day Bus Pass. The Premium 31-Day Bus Pass will be accepted on all BCT bus routes. Premium 10-Ride and Premium 31-Day Bus Passes are available for purchase online at www.broward.org/bct; click on PURCHASE BUS PASS, and at the Central Bus Terminal, Miramar, Pembroke Pines/Walter C. Young and South Regional/BC County libraries.
