Holiday reading goes high tech at Broward libraries

The holidays are right around the corner, and everyone is busy filling out their holiday wish lists.  However, not everyone can afford that brand new paperback or hardcover novel, or a high-tech Kindle, Nook or Sony e-reader device filled with digital e-books.

Fortunately, the Broward Libraries Division has begun a new E-Reader Expansion Program.  Now, customers can reserve and borrow a Kindle, Nook or Sony electronic reader along with your choice of many digital books – absolutely free! According to the Libraries Division, those interested must have a library card and complete a request form in person at one of five libraries  to get on the waiting list.  When one is available, you can then check out your e-reader and e-book for up to two weeks (no renewals).

Already have your own Nook or Sony e-reader?  Now you can download e-books from the library’s Overdrive database, a free digital service that allows customers to download e-books and audio books to their personal devices.  Titles range from self-help to the classics, and the number available is growing every day.

Now is the perfect time to catch up on a good book, and with Broward Libraries’ new digital options, it’s never been easier.  Complete your request form at one of the following libraries today, and enjoy some great reading this holiday season.

- Deerfield Beach Percy White Library:  837 E. Hillsboro Boulevard, Deerfield Beach.  (

North Regional/Broward College Library:  1100 Coconut Creek Boulevard, Coconut Creek.  (

Northwest Regional Library:  3151 University Drive, Coral Springs.  (
