Second suspect arrested in April’s West Park murder

A second man is in custody in relation to the murder of a Wellington man this past April in West Park.
Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide detectives had issued a warrant for the arrest of Jovon Gibson, 22, who the investigation revealed was involved in the crime. Another suspect, Sequen Day, 19, was placed under arrest shortly after the shooting.
Broward Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a call advising shots were fired at 4221 SW 39 Street at around 9:45 p.m. on Monday, April 19. Upon arrival deputies found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man, identified as Richard Burke, 48, was transported by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Shortly after receiving the first call, units were dispatched to a second location at SW 40th Avenue and County Line Road, where a second victim was located. That male victim, Xavier Garzon, 21, who resides at the home where the shooting took place, was also transported to Memorial Regional Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
BSO Homicide detective are continuing to investigate details of the incident.
