School Board Member Robin Bartleman Named FSCA Counselor Advocate of the Year

Broward County Public Schools Board member Robin Bartleman has been named this year’s recipient of the Counselor Advocate of the Year Award, presented by the Florida School Counselor Association (FSCA)  Professional Recognition Committee. Bartleman will receive the award at the Florida School Counselor Association Awards Dinner on Friday, October 30 (7-9:30 p.m.) at the Renaissance Orlando Resort at Sea World during the Florida School Counselor Association’s Annual Convention.

The purpose of the Advocate Award is to recognize a person or organization whose advocacy of guidance and counseling services in a school setting has impact for counselors on a local, state or national level. Nominees may be school board members, parents, teachers, community leaders or organizations that have consistently made a significant contribution to the improvement of guidance and counseling services in the school setting. The nominee should not be actively employed as a school counselor or as an administrator or supervisor of school counselors or counseling and guidance services.

Criteria for this recognition include exemplary support of counseling and guidance services, outstanding promotion of counseling and guidance services, implementation of new/additional counseling and guidance services and improvement of existing counseling and guidance services.

FSCA is committed to recognizing the outstanding work done by school counselors, administrators, and advocates of the school counseling profession. FSCA recognizes individuals who excel in promoting and facilitating the role of school counselors in Florida.
