Body parts found on the banks of a Dania canal

A used auto parts employee discovered human body parts Sunday morning while cleaning the bank of the Dania Cut-Off Canal.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 800 block of Old Griffin Rd. after an employee from Millions of Parts said he found what appeared to be a human head. The disturbing discovery was made as the man, who works across the street from the scene, was cleaning the canal bank with a backhoe.

BSO Homicide and Crime Scene detectives responded to the scene as well as detectives from Fort Lauderdale PD. For obvious reasons, BSO detectives are conferring with Fort Lauderdale investigators but said it’s too early to say if Sunday’s finding is connected with Fort Lauderdale’s body parts case.

BSO’s Dive Team spent the rest of the day searching the canal for more possible evidence.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call BSO Homicide Det. Jeff Kogan at (or call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
