Lauderdale man arrested for child porn; victims 3 months old

Frank Hottenrot, a 56-year-old Fort Lauderdale man was arrested today after police found him with over 1,500 pieces of child pornography on his computer, some victims are as young as three months.

The case started when the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, a member of the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force responded to a disturbance call on April 10 at Hottenrott’s home.

During the call, information was revealed that Hottenrott may possess child pornography on several of his computers.  Detectives contacted Hottenrott and advised him of his Miranda Rights.  During a recorded post Miranda interview, Hottenrott gave a full confession to downloading, viewing, and storing movies/images of child pornography on his home computer and other hard drives.  Hottenrott advised that several of the movies included children as young as 8 years old.  Hottenrott gave investigators written consent to seize and examine these items.

Investigators completed a forensic examination of the seized computer.  The examination revealed over 1,200 images of child pornography and over 300 movies of child pornography.  These movies included victims as young as 3 months old.

Hottenrott was taken into custody today and was charged with 100 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.Each charge has a $10,000 bond, and Hottenrott is currently pending trial, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Click here to see the charges.
