FLASH FLOOD WARNING – SOUTHERN BROWARD COUNTY

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units are reporting some local roadways flooded in Weston, in the vicinity of Weston Hills Dr. and Royal Palm Blvd. There are also some cars stalled out due to the flooding in the same area. Units are also on scene at a home located at 1208 Manor Dr. South, where a resident reported that the backyard pool overflowed and the home is now flooding. Units are on scene investigating.

Road flooding is also occurring on Stirling Rd. between Volunteer Rd. & Flamingo Rd. Dykes Rd. from Griffin Rd. to Sheridan St. Handcock Rd. from Griffin Rd. to Sheridan St. Other locations may also flood as the rain continues. Please use caution. Do not drive through large puddles as depth can be hard to determine.

* AT 1220 PM EST…FLASH FLOODING WAS REPORTED IN THE WARNED AREA AS
RAINFALL REPORTS OF 6.50 INCHES AT COOPER CITY…5.78 AT ARCHBISHOP
MCCARTHY HIGH SCHOOL…2.71 AT WESTON AND 3.35 AT PASADENA LAKES AT
1220 PM. REPORTS OF WATER 2 FEET DEEP HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN MANY
PARKS IN THE AREA. WATER WAS REPORTED TO BE APPROACHING SOME
RESIDENCES.

SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY…SOUTHWEST RANCHES AND COOPER CITY

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS IN
DITCHES…AND PONDING OF WATER IN URBAN AREAS…HIGHWAYS…STREETS
AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER POOR DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING
SPOTS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
