Miramar – NEW Big Brothers corner mentoring program is about to begin its inaugural session.

If you are a young man between the ages of 12 and 18 and haven’t joined yet, there are still slots available. Don’t wait because you don’t want to miss out on any of the planned activities and space is limited.

The kickoff event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 6 p.m. in the Commission Chambers, 2300 Civic Center Place. The guest speaker will be Wali Jones, Director of Education for the S. Florida Tournament of Champions. All young men ages 12 thru 18 are invited to attend the kickoff event.

This program will provide assistance to young men in developing and achieving their goals. The program will develop leadership skills and teach the young men to become productive adults in today’s society. Each month will have topics and group discussions ranging from setting goals and achieving them, creating a resume, identifying your passion, education and much more. Our meeting days will be Tuesday and Thursdays evenings from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Miramar Youth Enrichment Center, 7000 Miramar Parkway. This program will include guest speakers, group discussions, field trips, fundraisers, and volunteering. One field trip will be held on Saturday each month.
