Daily Show and friends added to South Beach Comedy Festival

“The Daily Show and Friends” featuring “Daily Show” executive producer Rory Albanese, correspondent John Oliver and series alum Rob Riggle have just been added to the line-up for the Fifth Annual South Beach Comedy Festival January 21st to 23rd at Miami Beach. They will be performing later on Saturday, January 23rd with doors opening 9:30PM at the Fillmore Miami Beach, 1700 Washington Avenue. Tickets for the show are $39.50 and are on sale now. They join an already announced line-up of Aziz Ansari, Mike Birbiglia, Kevin Hart, Gabriel Iglesias, Jon Lajoie, Brian Regan, Joe Rogan, Mad Cat Theatre Company’s “Shepherd’s Pie” with more announcements to come.
COMEDY CENTRAL returns as the national media partner and for the first time Live Nation will be the sole producers of the Festival handling all marketing, PR, talent booking and production. Also COMEDY CENTRAL and Live Nation welcome back sponsors Kia Motors (4th year) and Taco Bell (5th year) as well as The Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority, The Miami Herald, and the City of Miami Beach who have supported the Festival for five years.
“The Daily Show and Friends” features Albanese, Oliver and Riggle. “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning program on COMEDY CENTRAL that takes a reality-based look at news, trends, pop culture, current events, politics, sports and entertainment with an alternative point of view.
Rory Albanese is a four-time Emmy-winning executive producer and writer on “The Daily Show.” He has been a key part of the show for the last ten years. Albanese is also an accomplished stand-up comedian. In the summer of 2006, he joined Lewis Black’s “Red, White and Screwed” tour performing with Black all over the country. Albanese has been seen performing with “Daily Show” correspondent John Oliver as well as headlining his own shows. Recently, he taped his first-ever “COMEDY CENTRAL Presents” half-hour stand-up special which will air during the first quarter in 2010.
John Oliver is a correspondent and writer on “The Daily Show” and joined in 2006. Oliver has done everything from interviewing UN Ambassadors to breaking his nose fighting for the Confederate army. As a writer, he won his first Emmy this year for his work on “The Daily Show” and has received Writers Guild Awards nominations. The comedian has previously won the Breakout Award at the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen.
Rob Riggle is currently shooting “The Other Guys” opposite Will Ferrell and Mark Walberg. He recurs on CBS’s “Gary Unmarried,” and was a correspondent on “The Daily Show,” from 2006-2008. Riggle played Officer Franklin in Warner Bros’ summer hit “The Hangover,” and has also appeared in “The Goods: The Don Ready Story,” “Step Brothers” and “Talladega Nights.” He can next been seen in “Killers,” “Going The Distance” and “Furry Vengeance.”
